Eye poker!!

Laney has a facination with eyes. She loves eyebrows, eyelids, all of it. Well it is all fun and games until someone get s hurt. This time it was me. We were playing o nthe floor and BAM fingernail to the eyeball. Of course Kevin is at his conference and I can't drive with one eye so we make a few calls, talk to the neighbors and I decided to stick it out for a while. I don't know if anyone has ever had a scratch on thier eyeball but OH MY GOSH, does it hurt. I stuck it out till about 4am this morning and hit my breaking point. Off to the ER. Just a scratch but unfortunately it is right in the center of the iris of my eye. My Depth perception is a little off it waters every time I try to read something and we won't talk about pain. How can a little scratch hurt this much? So forgive my typos in this posting I am typing with my eyes closed. So that was our night. Poor kid. You could tell she felt bad the whole night.

Laney's 2nd Birthday

It is official! Laney is 2! We celebrated her birthday a few days ago with some friends. She enjoyed pizza and her Hungry Caterpillar birthday cake. She had one meltdown in the middle of the party and refused to open presents but with a few minutes of quite time she reset and finished with a bang. It was lots of fun and hard to believe that two years have flown by. She is a full blown toddler, temper tantrums and all!

Damned if you do...

So the actions of your toddler sometimes are beyone words. Here's a hilarious story. For months now, and I mean MONTHS, we've tried to get Laney to clap her hands. She doesn't like to, but if she does, she usually brushes her hands together - not a clap. She kind of has the attitude that she will do what she wants to, and isn't about to be conned into doing the little actions YOU want her to do. It's quite funny. Well lately, we've been teaching her a few signs, one being "all done" when she is done eating. The sign for that is, you guessed it, brushing your hands together, as if you're brushing the crumbs out of your hands. Basically, this is what she's always done for clapping. The funny part is that, now when we try to get her to brush her hands together when she is done eating, while we say "all done", she won't do it. Instead - you guess it - she claps her hands. Very weird little girl. But we sure love her.

Gone but hopefully not forgotten...

If anyone is still checking this I am sorry for the huge blank lately. Between school, vacations, family, friends, and work, I have let this slide. I am determined to get it back on track. I will back date some of our updates to fill in the gaps for the sake of this being like a scrapbook. I miss writing down our daily trials and tribulations but be assured they will return. Starting with Halloween! Be ready because the Meyer's are back!

Learning our limits

Today she was crawling around the house, no big deal. Then I heard her scream. At first I couldn't find her because she ususall doesn't leave the hallway. Here is where I found her. STUCK! So what did I do? I went and got the camera. Eventually, I did help her out but not till I got some photos.

Yes, we do eat other things

We also had some peas and apples today! I promise I am not trying to create a junkfood kid but these were the cuter pictures. We are all about total calories for the day. I can't understand how she keeps getting taller and puts on no weight? I guess I will know when her pants start falling off. Tomorrow I will expand her nutrition content, Promise!
